Allison Pescosolido, M.A.

Allison Pescosolido, M.A. is an expert at Divorce Recovery and starting over.   Allison has personally implemented all of the tools and strategies that she teaches.  She has a Masters in Psychology from University of Santa Monica and B.A.s in Economic, Urban Studies and Public Policy from Boston University.  Allison is a Grief Recovery Specialist®, certified by The Grief Recovery Institute, national experts in grief recovery and CNN's Grief Experts. Allison frequently appears in the media (New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today) for her expert coaching through Allium Coaching.

After years of coaching people to transform their lives, Allison discovered that the people who have the highest probability of successful transformation are those who are going through critical life changes.  Divorce and separation fall into that category.  When a person is going through a divorce, they have the opportunity to change their life and create a life that is better than before; or conversely, they can move backwards, and get stuck in the pain and drama of their life.

Divorce is an opportunity to create a better life.  It is almost like one has a “reset button” to start over.  It is one of the only times in life when society accepts that a person is going through a difficult time and allows them the space to change.  Think of it.  When you are married with kids, a job, tons of responsibility, there's no time to reconsider and rethink your life.  If you take time out for yourself you’re considered selfish and irresponsible.  Yet when you are going through divorce, people cut you some slack and give you space and room to change.

However there is still a stigma to divorce; when someone gets divorced, married people almost whisper the word “divorce” like it’s a disease.  Allison realizes that divorce can be a gem, a diamond on the rough.  It is an opportunity to start a new chapter in life, get out of a toxic relationship, improve yourself, become a better man or woman, and create a new relationship that leads to marriage based on a strong foundation of trust and mutual respect.

Allison has personally done the work and experienced the transformation.  She now helps others move through the challenges of divorce and create fulfilling, joyful lives.

Andra Brosh, Ph.D.

Dr. Andra Brosh's education began at Boston University where she graduated with a B.A. in Communications and then went on to receive her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from California Graduate Institute in Los Angeles. Her dissertation was entitled "The Maternal Mind: A Psychological Study of Pregnancy and New Motherhood," which considered the expectant mother's state of mind and the impact it may have on her caregiving behaviors. Andra is a Grief Recovery Specialist®, certified by The Grief Recovery Institute, national experts in grief recovery and CNN's Grief Experts.  Prior to starting Mothering Minds, Andra worked at The Maple Counseling Center for three years providing psychodynamic psychotherapy services to adults, children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of difficulties. During her stay at The Maple Counseling Center, she facilitated a Mindful Parenting Group for first and second time mothers and their infants which solidified her belief in early intervention. Over the years Andra has come to understand the needs of parents and their children as well as the incredible benefit that psychotherapy can offer. Andra became so inspired that she developed and implemented a Prenatal Workshop for first-time mothers at the Westside Pregnancy Resource Center.

Following The Maple Counseling Center Andra worked for a year at The Wright Institute where she gained extensive experience working with adults and deepened her understanding of psychoanalytic concepts. While at The Wright Institute she had the opportunity to learn from some of the most highly regarded and experienced psychoanalysts in our community. It is Andra's belief that psychologists should not rely only on what they learn in school, so over the years she has supplemented her education and training with several highly respected programs. She completed a two year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and a one year intensive course in Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Psychoanalytic Center of California. Andra's desire to understand how the mind, brain and body connect also led her to study Interpersonal Neurobiology with Dr. Daniel Siegel, and to develop a mindfulness practice that she incorporate into her work as a therapist. Most recently her passion and advocacy for women's maternal mental health led her to become certified by Postpartum Support International in the treatment of Perinatal Mood Disorders and other conditions that develop during the reproductive years. Andra is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the California Psychological Association (CPA), Postpartum Support International (PSI), the Marce Society, the Global Association for Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies (G.A.I.N.S), the World Association of Infant Mental Health (WAIMH), The Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH), and the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA).
